Emma Raducanu set for gruelling 15,000-mile trip in exhaustive end to season

The tournament is only for the top eight players in the world and as things stand Raducanu, who is currently ranked 22nd, would need a flurry of players to withdraw to be offered a place.

Linz organisers are excited at the prospect of having the US Open champion because she is the ‘whole package’.

“Emma Raducanu is a fascinating personality who not only inspires me with her excellent tennis,” tournament director Sandra Reichel said.

“She wins over the audience immediately thanks to her friendly appearance and her radiant smile, and she has remained very down-to-earth.”
