The actress dyed her blonde hair brown for the part and played Holly for three years on the soap.

She made a brief seven-month return to the soap in 2016 and was praised for her convincing portrayal of Holly’s death following a drug overdose.

Of her return producer Iain MacLeod stated Holly would bring ‘fresh trouble to the Dales’ and cause trouble for her stepfather Cain.

The producer continued, ‘Holly arrives with trouble trailing behind her and then we see Cain do what he does best, which is step in and save the day as only he can.’

Holly, who became Emmerdale’s first teenage drug addict in 2010, shocked viewers when she died after a heroin overdose.

She wrote on Instagram at the time: ‘I moved to London a few years ago to further pursue my acting career. Eventually I realised the lessons I was learning. To just find happiness in the everyday and the people you have around you.

‘To be grateful for just simply waking up and being healthy. Breaking the Habit I had of thinking I will be happy when I get that acting job or that audition.

‘To know that the depression and anxiety I continue to fight is only temporary. It’s so hard to even get an audition or email answered never mind an actual job.

‘Alongside various odd acting jobs the truth is I have spent most of my time working in a health food cafe. It felt like defeat. It felt like failure.’
