Erling Haaland’s much-speculated high-profile move to Chelsea has now been deemed ‘impossible’ partly due to the forward’s agent Mino Raiola. The notorious Raiola has been a thorn in the side for many Premier League clubs the past few years, notably Manchester United.
He reportedly once said: “I don’t give a f*ck if I never do another player with Manchester United. I’m not in their hands. I’m independent. We have only one party that we take care of: our players. And as long as our players like us, you do what you have to do.”
His brazen character has given him a bad reputation over the years, yet he still represents the best players in the world, notably, Haaland.
According to Sky in Germany, Raiola is asking for £34.2million (€40m) in commission for any deal involving Haaland.
Raiola, 53 – who was a player himself until aged 18 when he moved into coaching and then football agencies – is asking for a fee equivalent to what Liverpool paid to sign Mohamed Salah when he joined in 2017.
This will throw Chelsea’s plan for Haaland into total disarray.

He has been linked to the Blues all summer, and owner Roman Abramovich was accordingly willing to spend around £150m on the 20-year-old maestro.
Now however, the signing looks extremely unlikely given Borussia Dortmund’s desire not to lose the player and also the demands of his agent.
Dortmund are keen to keep the striker despite (just to reflect changes to sentence above) the fact a release clause could be triggered next summer which means the Norwegian forward could go for a lot cheaper.
A source close to Sky has said: “Chelsea are trying but it is going to be very difficult”.

Haaland is hotly tipped to become the next major footballing superstar, if he is not already.
Since arriving at Dortmund he has scored 57 goals in just 59 appearances, impressing in the Bundesliga and Champions League whenever he has played.
After last year’s Champions League win, Abramovich wants to capitalise and has backed manager Thomas Tuchel to the hilt with a substantial transfer budget.

Sometimes however, even money is not enough in some cases.
Abramovich will likely not let this transfer go easily and whether it be this summer or next, you can bet the Russian will want to land his dream signing.
What can be said for Raiola however is a different story.
It remains to be seen whether the Dutch-Italian agent will be demanding the same size commission fees if Haaland is available for closer to £70m in 2022.
