Eva Longoria meets with families staying at Ronald McDonald House ahead of McHappy Day

In September, Hollywood actress and entrepreneur Eva Longoria was announced as the official McHappy Day Ambassador for 2021. 

And in the lead up to Saturday’s McHappy Day, the 46-year-old met with families staying at Ronald McDonald House in Sydney and Melbourne.

Due to travel restrictions, the former Desperate Housewives star was introduced to the Aussie families virtually, where they shared stories of how the House Charities have supported their loved ones.

‘I was so moved by the families’ stories as I heard how Ronald McDonald House Charities is helping them stay together and feel supported while their seriously ill or injured child is undergoing treatment,’ she began in a statement.

‘Family is everything and I’ve seen firsthand what a strong support system can do, which is why it is so important that tomorrow on McHappy Day, Aussies give what they can to help raise much-needed funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities.’ 

This year’s McHappy Day will mark the 30th anniversary for the largest annual fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities in Australia.

The day has helped raise crucial funds to help keep families together and provide them with invaluable support while their seriously ill or injured child is undergoing treatment.

Eva joins a long line of celebrities to hold the position for Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia – including Katie Holmes, Eva Mendes, Naomi Watts, Ricki-Lee Coulter, Ada Nicodemou, Benji and Joel Madden and Ryan Kwanten. 

Australians can show their support for McHappy Day by picking up a pair of $5 Silly Socks or Helping Hands from their local McDonald’s.

Another option is to purchase a Big Mac on McHappy Day from their nearest McDonald’s or via McDelivery, with $2 from every Big Mac sold going directly to RMHC.
