Gene Simmons has closed a deal to sell off his Beverly Hills mansion for $16 million dollars.

The news about the 71-year-old’s former property was initially reported by TMZ, who revealed that the buyer, Max Nobel of Nobel Development Group, is planning to make major renovations to the two-acre property.

The media outlet also noted that the famed bassist previously purchased the residence in October of 1986 for $1,337,500, and he has made numerous renovations to the estate in the recent past.

Josh and Matt Altman of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles fame handled the sale, though neither chose to make any public comments.

He originally tried to sell the 16,000 square foot Benedict Canyon mansion for $22 million back in October 2020.

Back in March he relisted the home for a whopping $25 million after giving the interior some extensive restorations, including clearing out much of the Kiss memorabilia that originally gave some rooms a cluttered feeling.

Source with access to the Beverly Hills house told TMZ that it was ‘almost like a miniature KISS museum.’

Of the mansion’s seven bedrooms, four were completely decked out in Kiss gear and memorabilia, which gave it a cluttered look that might have scared off all but the biggest fans of the legendary hard rock group, though the Kiss items weren’t part of the sale.

One bedroom previously looked more like a museum, or even a gift shop, as the walls had been covered with glass cases full of Kiss gear.

There was even a glass table with simple chairs behind it, giving it the appearance of a merchandise table at a concert.

The room was decked out with ceiling-hung speakers to blast Kiss tunes, and the flooring-to-ceiling windows at one end of the long bedroom were framed on either side by the band’s gold and platinum records.

But after the extensive cleanup, the room achieved a peaceful, almost Zen-like quality.

Now the bedroom has an actual bed, and the removed cases allowed for luxurious natural lighting to enliven the space on a sunny day, and there’s also a pleasant seating area off to one end that would be perfect for reading a book or relaxing with friends.

The original setup for the home hid some of its more graceful spaces, like a staircase wall that was covered with even more gold and platinum records, as well as a Kiss surfboard.

But not all of the changes were related to the band’s memorabilia.

The living room area already boasted plentiful natural lighting thanks to its tall window doors, but Simmons changed up the furniture and layout to create more space with a minimalist vibe.

Instead of a large ottoman and multiple smaller tables, the bassist spread out to simple beige sofas with smaller footstool ottomans and a sleeker, more modern coffee table.

He also opened up the room by removing a small table and ottomans in front of one of the doors opening to the backyard, and another door opening out to a covered patio with chairs was also opened up.

The renovated home will likely appeal to anyone looking for privacy, as its cut-off from the rest of the neighborhood by abundant tress and greenery.

The two-acre property includes a long pool with a 60-foot water slide to cool down in on a hot day, and tennis fans will be able to play a match on its tennis court.

There’s also a large driveway court at the front entrance with space for 35 cars, so throwing a big party won’t be an obstacle.

Now that his Kiss items have been moved out to his new home, Simmons’ bedrooms benefit from a clean design that includes glass patio doors for bright mornings, along with balconies to admire the hills surrounding the property.

Simmons’ mansion boasts plenty of spaces for play and entertaining, including a billiards room with a large bar with gorgeous dark wood to make a cocktail at the end of the day.

A lovely sunroom surrounded by windowed doors makes an ideal breakfast or lunch spot, while a modest dining room is perfect for fancier dining, while the kitchen is enlivened with warm granite countertops and has an irregularly shaped island for a quick snack.

The next owner will be able to luxuriate in the mansions wide-open spaces thanks to its high vaulted ceilings, and one of the sitting areas features an open second level, while floor-to-ceiling windows reach all the way to the upper level.

Simmons, who hails from New York, is moving to a 24-acre estate in Washington, near Mount Rainier, in order to pay less in taxes compared to California.

‘California and Beverly Hills have been treating folks that create jobs badly and the tax rates are unacceptable,’ Simmons told The Wall Street Journal.

‘I work hard and pay my taxes and I don’t want to cry the Beverly Hills blues but enough is enough.’

However, Simmons has a new home to rock and roll all night and party every day in after he purchased a mansion located near Las Vegas for $8.2 million.

The Kiss legend will have plenty of room to rock out in the 11,000-square-foot home in Henderson, Nevada, which boasts six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, according to TMZ.

Simmons’ new home has a much more modern feel than his Beverly Hills home thanks to its angular exterior covered in floor-to-ceiling windows, and visitors coming to the mansion will pass over an eye-catching floating entryway that passes over a soothing koi pond.

The bassist will be able to beat Vegas’ dry heat in the stately minimalist pool outside, and there’s also a hot tub that would be perfect for a breezy evening.

The home is ideal for entertaining, as it also has an outdoor barbecue area for grilling with friends in its large courtyard.

Despite saying he’s done with California, Simmons isn’t completely leaving the state, as he purchased a $5.8 million hilltop home in Malibu in March that’s considerably more modest than his Vegas or Beverly Hills mansions.
