Adele – whose new single Easy On Me smashed records when it was released on Friday – told the magazine: ‘My last meal would be a McChicken Nugget, with a Big Mac and then fries – that’s my three courses. I eat it at least once a week.’

As for her all time favourite dish, the hit-maker said: ‘My favourite British dish would be a Sunday roast which I’m pretty great at doing every single Sunday, it’s my son’s favourite.’

Adele also shared that she used to serve fry ups when she worked at a greasy spoon in Tottenham, revealing: ‘I actually used to work at a cafe, I worked at the River Lee Caf in Tottenham and so it started off where I’d just be helping take out the food and stuff like that but a year later I was making some of those breakfasts! Only got £25 for the whole day.’

The Grammy-winning star also thanked Jamie Oliver for her culinary prowess, saying: ‘I learnt to cook on my own.

‘I was on my own maybe when I was like 18, maybe two months and I was getting loads of takeaways and it was just costing too much money so I think I read 30 minute meals by good old Jamie Oliver and that’s how I learnt the basics of cooking.

‘But I do make an incredible – even Italians I know have said this – I make an incredible spicy pasta.’

Adele also fondly recalled trips to Whitstable beach as a child, explaining that she would tuck into tasty cockles near the water.

‘Last time I had cockles must have been…I was definitely under ten,’ she said.

‘We used to go to Whitstable sometimes, down to the beach – when I say a beach though I obviously mean a very British beach with pebbles and all that – but they were yummy and very nostalgic.’

The Someone Like You singer made history earlier this month as the first celebrity to cover British and US Vogue.

It comes after Adele revealed three of her closest friends were not bowled over by her record-breaking new track Easy On Me when they first heard the song.

Speaking on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Greg James on Friday, the hit-maker explained: ‘I sent a snippet of me singing it as I was writing it to three of my closest friends here. One didn’t like it, the other one was like, ”Well, yeah, maybe, keep trying though”.’

Adding that one friend was too busy with work to even listen to the track – which has set a new world record for the most streams in a single day – Adele insisted: ‘That was the perfect response for me.’

She explained to Greg: ‘I’m such a knee-jerk person. I’ll be like, ”I don’t like it, forget it!” I’m like that with my music.

‘I’m like that with just things I want to do. I’m like that with my feelings and stuff and I think it was clear to them [her friends] in the lyrics that I’ve bided my time and I wasn’t reacting to a reaction or anything like that.’

She concluded: ‘It was just a feeling that I had stirred on for a while.’

Adele covers the November issues of British and American Vogue, available via digital download and on newsstands now.
