‘You’re really vulnerable!’ Jacqueline Jossa reveals she was fat-shamed by online trolls when she joined EastEnders aged 17 and was a size 8

She was cast as Lauren Branning back in 2010.

And, Jacqueline Jossa has revealed that she was fat-shamed by online trolls when she joined EastEnders aged 17 and was a size 8, but now couldn’t care less and sees herself as a 10/10.

The actress, 28, admitted she ‘honestly’ thought she was ‘so fat’ due to criticisms she received when a press release announced she would be joining the BBC soap, and explained how at such a young age you’re ‘really vulnerable’.

Jacqueline told Fabulous: ‘It’s funny, I just don’t care. I used to, back in the day. Ten years ago I would care about my appearance and it would get in my head. I’d think “they’re right, I need to lose weight, I need to do this or that”. I don’t think like that anymore.

The I’m A Celeb winner admitted it could be due to growing up and having daughters that she’s no longer bothered.

Jacqueline and her husband Dan Osborne, 30, are parents to daughters Ella, six and Mia, three, and Dan is father to son Teddy, seven, from a previous relationship.

The soap star added: ‘You feel “I don’t need to be a size 8”. I can be happy with how I look. Ultimately when I’m naked and in sexy underwear, I feel a 10/10.’

‘I was a size 8 [when I joined EastEnders] and honestly thought I was so fat, because of the response of people on one picture, I hadn’t even made it onto telly yet. It was probably the first time I’d faced criticism.

Jacqueline detailed how the trolling hit her hard because as a teenager you’re ‘really vulnerable’ and still very much learning about your body.

The actress’ marriage to Dan – who she wed in 2017 – has been stronger than ever after putting their troubles behind them.  Last year, Dan admitted to cheating on Jacqueline during their marriage.

He told The Sun: ‘I know in the past I’ve denied things when they’re not true, then when something has been true, I probably just kept my mouth shut…

‘I was a different person. It seems a cliché to say, but I was a young lad and on TV and stuff. I’m not saying you get big headed, but you get dug out for things anyway and then you’re feeling s*** in yourself.’

The star went on to admit to going out and getting ‘p****d’ instead of working on his relationship when things were ‘bad at home.’

After confessing to his wife, Dan told how the couple are putting the past behind them and focusing on the future.
