Jade Thirlwall has discussed bandmates Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock becoming mothers and the future of Little Mix in a candid new interview.

The songstress, 28, said her bandmates were ‘raring to get back to work’ three months after welcoming their babies.

Jade told Apple Music’s Rebecca Judd: ‘No, they’re good, they’re good. They’re actually raring to get back as well to be honest, we message every day, call each other just about every day.

‘And I think they’re getting major FOMO seeing me out and about doing bits. Yeah.

‘I mean, now was a good time I think for the girls to settle down, have their babies and stuff. I think in lockdown, everyone had a bit of a perspective shift, didn’t they? Of when was the right time to do what they truly wanted. But that doesn’t mean they can’t still slay.’

Reflecting on the future of the band as they celebrate their 10 year anniversary, Jade said she believed the Black Magic hitmakers would ‘still be around’ – after quashing incessant split rumours in the wake of Jesy Nelson’s departure.

She said: ’10 years time. I don’t know. Well, obviously, I think that Little Mix will still be around. We’re always going to have each other. I think when you’ve got that sort of bond…

‘I’ve spent my whole adult life with the girls and that’ll probably never, ever change, no matter what happens. Until now and then, maybe I’d like to see more girl bands come through and I’d like to help with that as well.

‘So yeah, hopefully in 10 years time, there’ll be another big Little Mix to share the spotlight with. Maybe I’ll settle down. I haven’t got any intentions here. I like traveling around too much.

‘Yeah, I had a couple of weeks off actually. Me and my boyfriend just got a dog and he lives in Margate and I was there and I was like, “I do get it.” I do love that more simple, lovely life.

    ‘You get up every day, you walk the dogs, and you go out to the beach. And I love that, but I’m definitely not ready to give it all up anytime soon. ;

The group, who have recently released new album Between Us, are now gearing up to go back on tour next year.

Jade said: ‘It’s been two years now since we’ve done a big show. So I think I’ll be a bit nervous and I haven’t really let myself go, but I’ll always joke to Jordan [Stephens], he met me after lockdown and I don’t really exercise.

‘I eat what I want. It’s all very that, and he’s super healthy and I’m like, “You don’t know what I used to be like. I was very fit and healthy,” and he’s like, “All right.”

‘And now I feel like I’ve put pressure on myself when I do start this tour to prove a point to Jordan that I actually am capable of lasting out an hour and a half sure and not passing out.’

The interview comes as Little Mix revealed they underwent therapy as a trio in the wake of former band member Jesy’s exit in December.

In a new interview, the X Factor winners opened up about getting treatment together, with new mum Perrie admitted they ‘really needed it’.

Speaking to Buzzfeed about their new album Between Us, the girls also detailed how their therapy sessions were the inspiration behind the song Cut You Off, which is about letting go of toxic people in one’s life.

During the chat, Little Mix explained some the meanings of some of the newer songs on the anniversary album, which is a celebration of their 10 years together as a group.

And as she detailed the thought process behind Cut You Off, Perrie told how the song spanned from the three embarking on therapy sessions which came after a tough year amid the coronavirus pandemic and Jesy sensationally quitting the group.

She explained: ‘Cut You Off is about someone who’s really toxic in your life and you don’t want anymore. We actually went to therapy as a group, which we think is really, really helpful. We got told to envision the people that are negative in our lives and the people who don’t make us feel very good about ourselves.

‘And we imagined big scissors to cut people off — and then Jade came up with the concept to make it into a song, which I thought was really freaking cool.’

The new mum added that the three of them ‘really needed’ their therapy, having had both individual and group sessions, adding that it was ‘amazing’ that they could all be there for one another and ‘cry together’.

While Perrie shared that having a child put things into ‘perspective’, sharing that she now ‘listens to music differently’.

She added that she ‘can’t wait’ to get back on tour, noting that she misses performing ‘so much’.

It comes after Jade revealed her hopes for Little Mix to still be together for at least two more decades, as she quashed the incessant split speculation.

There have been rumours swirling that the group are planning to split amid the fall-out of Jesy Nelson’s departure.

But Jade reassured fans of the band’s future by expressing her desire for the band’s 30th anniversary to be celebrated with a documentary.

Jade told Daily Star: ‘(In another 10 years) I’d like to think we’ll still be going then. We’d be doing another tour, another gig with more music.

‘I’d love in 20 years’ time that there was a fabulous documentary about how amazing we are.’
