He recently revealed that he’s lost a staggering five-and-a-half stone, two months after having gastric sleeve surgery.

And James Argent was seen tucking into melon slices during a break from his training to swim across the English Channel, a challenge he hopes to do next year, in Dover on Thursday.

The former TOWIE star, 33, kept warm by wearing a DryRobe after enjoying a dip in the ocean earlier on.

James’ attire appeared to be from his time on Channel 4’s Sink or Swim in 2019, when he last swam the English Channel to help raise money for charity.

The reality star stood in a pair of black-and-white sliders and he also appeared to be in black bathing shorts underneath the longline jacket.

James’ brunet locks were styled in a wet, tousled style, suggesting he had been in the water not long before enjoying his snack.

He was seen alongside social media star Aaron Crascall, and the pair enjoyed an animated conversation while at the pier.

Doctors had previously ordered James to ‘lose weight or die’ after he weighed in at 27 stone.

James showed off his trimmer physique as he tucked into a large salad at Pellicci Cafe in Bethnal Green.

Arg is currently on a mission to lose six stone by Christmas after undergoing the surgery.

James reportedly hopes to ‘lose at least a stone every month between now and 2022’ and will enlist the help of close friend and fitness fanatic Mark.

Mark, 34, has told James ‘he can join him over the gym anytime he likes’.

Earlier this year, Arg took to Instagram to share a snap of himself wrapped in a towel while at a lido as he explained to fans how he’s taking care of himself after surgery.

He penned: ‘It is extremely important that I continue to take good care of myself not just physically but mentally as well, After such a big operation & life change!’

GASTRIC SURGERY – WHAT IS IT?

    Gastric Bypass

laparoscopic gastric bypass involves creating a small pouch in the stomach that restricts food intake and reduces nutrient absorption.

The pouch also limits food from coming into contact with the upper or lower intestine, further preventing absorption.

The operation involves five-to-six incisions in the abdomen.

Surgeons then staple the top portion of the stomach to separate it from the bottom, creating a pouch.

A small section of the small intestine is then attached to the pouch, allowing food to bypass to the lower stomach.

    Sleeve Gastrectomy

Sleeve gastrectomy staples off a portion of the stomach and removes the excess – effectively turning it from a pouch into a sleeve.

As no part of the stomach is bypassed, nutrients are absorbed in the usual way.

However, the restrictions on the amount of food patients are able to eat means patients will still need to take supplements.

The results are excellent, achieving up to 70 percent excess weight loss, just shy of the standard set by the gastric bypass.

As well as weight loss, sleeve gastrectomy has also been proven to bring about remission of diabetes.
