Jana Pittman recalls the sweet moment she first found out she was expecting twins

Pregnant SAS Australia star Jana Pittman has recalled the sweet moment she first found out she was expecting twins with her lawyer husband, Paul Gatward, 53.

Appearing on Sunrise on Tuesday, the former athlete-turned-junior doctor, 38, revealed she cheekily scanned herself at work and ‘saw two little heart beats’.

Jana, who is soon to be a mother of six, described the moment as ‘amazing’.

‘I scanned myself at work, so I found out unofficially,’ Jana said with a laugh. 

‘I saw two little heart beats and I thought, “oh my gosh.” It was amazing.’

Jana described the pregnancy as a ‘blessing’ and said she’s a little nervous at how she’ll manage with six kids in the house.

‘My grandmother was a twin. So, it’s in the family,’ she explained. 

‘It’s going to be super busy and hectic and I’m not sure how I’m going to manage to drive a car,’ she added with a laugh. 

Jana first announced her twin pregnancy this week with New Idea. 

She told the publication that she is worried about the ‘logistical nightmare’ of her growing family.

‘I never thought I’d have six children, I don’t know how we are going to cope. How will we all fit into my car? I can see life is going to be a logistical nightmare.’

Jana fell pregnant with her husband Paul not long after SAS Australia wrapped filming.

Despite trying to hide her pregnancy for the first few weeks, Jana found it impossible to keep things a secret thanks to her extreme morning sickness.

Recalling the moment she was forced to tell her employers at the hospital about her pregnancy, Jana admitted she’d vomited mid-way through performing a caesarean.

Jana and businessman Paul welcomed their first child, a son named Charlie, in December last year. 

Two of Jana’s children, daughters Emily, six, and Jemima, four, were born via IVF and through an anonymous sperm donor.

She also has a 14-year-old son, Cornelis, from her marriage to her first husband and former coach, Chris Rawlinson.
