Ms Webber, who was in her 50s, was one of two women killed when she was hit by a BMW X5 and knocked into oncoming traffic after she stopped on the hard shoulder of the M20. She had stopped to help another motorist who had lost control of their vehicle in the wet conditions.

Just Stop Oil protesters suspended themselves in hammocks over the Queen Elizabeth II bridge over the River Thames linking Essex and Kent for two days.

As a result hundreds of motorists were forced to divert onto the M20 causing traffic chaos.

Mark Heap, 55, also suffered a broken back and broken leg after he assisted the stranded motorist along with Ms Webber.

Speaking to Mail Online from his hospital bed, he partially blamed the Just Stop Oil activists for the accident.

He said: “The eco-warriors may have thought it was an innocent protest, but they’ve got blood on their hands.

“I don’t think they deliberately caused the crash.

“But their actions, bringing the traffic to a stand-still on the M20, caused the crash in which those two women died.”

Mr Heap went on to describe the events that led up to the accident and what happened.

A team of tree surgeons from Oxleas Tree Care were first on the scene and attempted to give CPR and first aid, it has been reported.

Ms Webber’s father, Clive Kraus thanked the men on Twitter for their actions.

He added: “We would like to meet your guys to thank them and help us be at peace and lay our daughter to rest.”

According to reports, the other women killed is said to have been in her 40s.

South East Coast Ambulance said that they were unable to comment on the incident until a police investigation had been completed.

Officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
