In the 2016 ITV documentary Our Queen At Ninety, the Duchess of Cambridge spoke about the “art of walkabouts” – and her own difficulties. The interview was Kate’s first on television since getting engaged to Prince William in 2011.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 39, said: “There’s a real art to walkabouts.”

“Everybody teases me in the family that I spend far too long chatting.

“I still have to learn a little bit more, and to pick up a few more tips, I suppose.”

When Kate entered The Firm, being too “chatty” wasn’t the only worry the duchess had.

“I was slightly worried about it, but I noticed the next day that it was on the table.

“I think such a simple gesture went such a long way for me and I’ve noticed since she’s done that on lots of occasions and I think it just shows her thoughtfulness, really, and her care in looking after everybody.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met 20 years ago while studying at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

The couple lived just a few doors apart from each other in their student accommodation.

Following many years of dating, they tied the knot at Westminster Abbey in 2011.

Since, they have welcomed three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
