Kate put aside 'personal resentment' as she 'rose above' Meghan and Harry's claims

Among numerous shocking statements made during their sit-down chat, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex alleged that the future Queen consort made her new sister-in-law cry. Their comments came in response to intense media speculation around the time of the Sussexes’ 2018 wedding that Meghan, 39, had made Kate cry in a row over Princess Charlotte’s flower girl dress.

But the couple, who fled to California to enjoy a “private” life last year, dismissed this during their tell-all interview – where they also levelled claims of racism at the Royal Family.

Prince William later publicly insisted that his family are “very much not” a racist family.

Harry, 36, was reunited with his family just weeks after the hugely controversial interview to attend Prince Philip’s funeral.

Meghan, who is heavily pregnant, wasn’t able to attend on medical advice.

“Setting aside any personal resentment she may still feel about Harry and Meghan’s televised two-hour tell-all, Kate put her best foot forward in trying to carve a path to reconciliation between the brothers.

“Few would have blamed her for giving Harry the cold shoulder, yet she clearly resolved that the situation needed to be appeased rather than aggravated.”

Fellow royal expert Christopher Wilson also shared his views on Kate’s actions at the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral at Windsor Castle last month.

He told the magazine that he believed Kate’s decision to start up a conversation with Harry showed that she wasn’t “overawed” by the drama that Megxit has created.

Their chat led to the once-close brothers to have a one-on-one conversation as the family walked away from the St George’s Chapel service.

He said: “I thought it was entirely spontaneous and clever in making the two brothers talk to each other.

“It was a deft move that shows the Duchess is not overawed by all that’s going on.”

Before he stepped back as a senior royal, Harry enjoyed an extremely close relationship with Kate.

He even once described her as the sister he never had.

They attended a number of joint engagements together and joined forces to launch their mental health organisation, Heads Together.

When Harry was living at Kensington Palace he spent a lot of time at the Cambridges’ apartment, and Kate would often cook him dinner.

She was reportedly always on hand to offer him advice, especially when it came to love and romance.

A source told the Daily Mail: “Kate has quite a different relationship with Harry than she has with William.

“Harry appeals to her sillier side because he is carefree, footloose and loves banter.

“He finds things funny about people and says so.”
