    Kylie Minogue dons one of Stella McCartney’s new breast cancer awareness T-shirts – 16 years after her own battle with the illness


    Kylie Minogue battled breast cancer nearly 16 years ago. 

    And on Wednesday, the 52-year-old pop princess threw her global fame behind the latest charity initiative towards helping those living with the diagnosis. 

    The iconic superstar shared two photos on Instagram to promote the new range of breast cancer awareness T-shirts by designer, Stella McCartney.

    The Spinning Around hitmaker shared photos of herself wearing the white T-shirt which focused on the three Ts – toilet, teeth and tits. 

    ‘[This month we] want you to add some TTT to your regular routine. Need a daily reminder?’ she wrote, reminding women to get checked. 

    ‘Get the limited-edition (heat activated!) TTT t-shirt I’m wearing at Stella McCartney. 

    ‘For every tee purchased, the Stella Cares Foundation will donate a Louise Listening post-mastectomy bra to a woman who needs it.’

    The pop princess herself publicly battled breast cancer back in 2005. 

    Speaking to WHO magazine in April last year, Kylie said: ‘Cancer changed many things forever, and some things didn’t change at all.’

    While she felt like her life felt ‘on hold’ during the cancer battle, Kylie said she became ‘even more passionate about the people and things that I loved’.

    ‘My view of the world was different, my destination, for the most part, was the same,’ Kylie said, adding she appreciated all the love she received in her lowest moments. 

    The Loco-Motion hit-maker said she was grateful for support shown by friends, family and fans at the time: ‘People shone so bright for me in those dark days.’  

    Kylie was just 36 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005.

    The Can’t Get You Out of My Head singer sought treatment immediately, and in doing so was forced to cancel the remaining dates of her Showgirl: Greatest Hits world tour and pull out of UK’s Glastonbury festival.

    Her sister, singer and presenter Dannii Minogue, thanked fans for their well wishes at the time on behalf of her older sister. 

    After a partial mastectomy and rounds of radiation and chemotherapy, Kylie was given the all-clear the following year.

    In 2018, before celebrating her 50th birthday, Kylie shared a throwback photo from her recovery period with short brunette locks.

    She captioned the photo at the time: ‘This decade had brought the challenge of breast cancer. With the help of family, friends, medical teams and of course all of you, we made it through.’ 

    The Australian megastar later admitted to Sunday Times Style in 2019 that she wondered ‘what life as a mum would be like’ after the breast cancer battle ruined her chance at having children of her own.
