Lewis Hamilton’s title hopes could potentially take another big hit with it having emerged that his car has gone to the stewards for investigation for a technical violation with the DRS. The Brit had topped qualifying but had already been slapped with a five-place grid penalty at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

After finishing first in qualifying, meaning he would start from pole in Saturday’s Sprint race, the FIA released a statement regarding the investigation concerning Hamilton.

The FIA statement read on Friday evening: “The uppermost rear wing element adjustable positions were checked on car number 44 for compliance with Article 3.63 of the 2021 Formula One Technical Regulations.

“The requirement for the minimum distance was fulfilled.

“But the requirement for the maximum of 85mm, when the DRS system is deployed and tested in accordance with TD/011-19, were not fulfilled.”
