During a segment discussing the new streaming channel just for canines – DOGTV – Ruth Langsford, Kelle Bryan, Janet Street-Porter and Jane Moore tried out some techniques of their own to get dogs interested in the TV. Their experiment saw Ruth – who has a dog called Maggie – and Jane play with squeaky toys, as well as hearing the sounds of doorbells, barking and Jane enthusiastically suggesting ‘walkies’. Viewers sent clips of their dogs reacting to the segment yesterday (November 9), which were shared on this afternoon’s show.
Ethan’s dog Bonnie got very excited at the TV, but began barking at Ruth before jumping up at the screen, meanwhile, Suzie’s miniature labradoodle Roxy, was ‘very, very excited’ by the squeakers.
A black Labrador – also called Bonnie – sat perfectly throughout the show, right up until Janet asked dogs at home to ‘sit’ in her best Barbara Woodhouse impersonation. At which point, the pup got up and wandered off.
Janet admitted she’d signed up to DOGTV for her dog, Badger.
She said: “Badger has an issue with the TV because whenever I turn it on, no matter what programme, he plonks himself between me and the telly. His rear end facing the telly and his face faces me, staring me out for the fact I dare to ignore him for a minute.”
