Belle rose to prominence on the 2019 summer series of Love Island, where she struck up a short-lived romance with Anton Danyluk, which ended just five weeks after they left the villa.

The reality star, 25, criticised the structure of the show for being ‘false’, saying the couples can’t fall in love before dating for longer, and insists it sets too high a standard for young viewers to aspire to.

Speaking to hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng on FUBAR Radio’s Access All Areas, Anton said: ‘What I don’t like about Love Island is the way it portrays love.’

He continued: ‘These kids again are watching these luxurious dates where you’re going on a helicopter, you’re landing down, you know, on an island and you’re having a little picnic. And they think this is normal life.’

‘Then when their boyfriends are taking them to McDonald’s drive-through, they wonder why their relationships aren’t working, because they’re looking up to those guys.’

Picking apart the structure of the show, he added: ‘When is it realistic that you’re in love with someone before you start dating someone?

‘You’re almost doing things in the opposite way. It’s almost set up to fail effectively.’
