Manchester United next transfer move is obvious after Paul Pogba contract snub

Paul Pogba has reportedly rejected a new contract at Manchester United and, with his contract expiring at the end of next season, the club could be forced to sell him this window. United bought the Frenchman from Juventus for £89million in 2016 and will want to avoid losing him for nothing next season.

It could be the second time that the Red Devils lose Pogba for nothing, after they let him leave the club in 2012.

So, to avoid that happening again, it looks like United will be happy to sell him this summer, with £60m the price they are reportedly happy to let him go for.

PSG are said to be the frontrunners for his signature.

It’s hard to deny Pogba’s undoubted quality, but would it be the worst thing to lose him for £60m this summer?

Firstly, his consistency has always come under question.

The Portuguese scored 18 goals and provided 11 assists which, realistically, is the numbers people are expecting of Pogba.

Former United defender Gary Neville has previously said that he would like to see one holding midfielder behind Pogba and Fernandes, but his Sky Sports colleague Jamie Carragher disagrees.

“I actually admire (Ole Gunnar) Solskjaer for putting Pogba on the bench,” Carragher said on ‘Monday Night Football’ earlier last season.

“I said a few weeks ago after the Crystal Palace game, Fernandes and Pogba is not a midfield that can play together and never will be.”

Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga is one player that has been linked with United and Pogba’s fellow Frenchman would be a far better fit in Solskjaer’s side.

Less offensively minded and happy to get stuck in defensively, Camavinga could be bought for around £30m, according to reports, and would make the team a lot more balanced when paired with either Fred or Scott McTominay.

United would then have £30m remaining to buy another player they have been linked with this summer – Kiernan Tripper.

Trippier is reportedly being targeted as competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and would add bags of experience to their defence.

Admittedly, Pogba turning down United’s latest contract offer isn’t ideal.

However, when you take everything into consideration, it might be a blessing in disguise, especially if they can use the money to buy Camavinga, who has all the attributes to be as good as Pogba, if not better.
