Meghan & Harry's 'betrayal to haunt them forever' in US as Sussexes 'cash in' says expert

Royal expert Duncan Larcombe has now claimed that Harry and Meghan’s status is becoming solidified in history as the couple who “betrayed” the Royal Family. Speaking to Closer magazine he said: “I think Meghan, in particular, will be remembered as the woman who took Harry away from the royals. And this book has the potential to drill that home even more.

“This betrayal, especially from Harry as a brother, son and grandson, will be something that haunts them, their careers and their reputations forever, and will probably overshadow any charity work they do.

“I think Meghan will be known in history as the woman who took a pot shot at the royals and ran off with Harry, more than being an actress or philanthropist.”

US media personality Perez Hilton has claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in danger of ruining their reputations with the release of the Duke of Sussex’s memoir.

Speaking to Closer, Mr Perez said: “Harry and Meghan’s popularity has waned recently because I think we’ve all realised that Prince Harry is just a bit boring.

“I mean, he is! But good on them making the money.

“They are cashing in left and right with so many projects, one thing after another.

“But they’re walking a fine line right now they’re making all this money and doing all of these different projects, but I think with all that their popularity will take a nose dive eventually.”

The book is said to be an “accurate and wholly truthful” account of Prince Harry’s life.

Psychotherapist Neil Wilkie believes that either Prince William or Prince Harry needs to be the first to reach out the hand of reconciliation and bridge the divide between them.

Speaking to Express.co.uk he said: “One of them needs to be brave enough to take the first step and the first step only needs to be a small thing.

“It only needs to be a small relationship ripple to cause significant change.

“But if Harry picked up the phone to William or William picked up the phone to Harry and said, ‘look, I’m really sorry about where we’ve ended up, I love you and I’d like us to have a good relationship in the future, could we talk about that?’

“I think that’s what needs to happen.

“To involve other people as mediators may help, but it may also make things worse.”

This is contrary to what Kate’s uncle Gary Goldsmith said last month that she could be valuable in healing the rift.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s uncle said she is naturally a “peacemaker”.

Kate was spotted chatting with Prince Harry and Prince William at their Prince Philip’s funeral in April.

The tensions between the royal siblings have been high for years, even Prince Harry has admitted that the brothers are on “different paths”.

The brothers were also reunited at the beginning of July in the grounds of Kensington Palace at the unveiling of the statue to their late mother Princess Diana.

At this reunion, Prince Harry and Prince William were observed chatting and smiling with members of the Spencer family.

However, the Duke of Sussex left very quickly after the ceremony, just 20 minutes according to the Daily Mail.

Speaking to the Daily Star royal expert Marlene Koenig said: “What I was hoping was after the statue unveiling, they would go back to Kensington Palace for a meal, sit down and talk.

“He could get to see his niece and nephews, and that didn’t happen as far as we know.

“He just drove off and went back to Frogmore, went back to Windsor.

“Did he talk to his grandmother?

    “We don’t know.”
