Meghan Markle warned Piers Morgan’s new job will ‘give her nightmares’

It was announced yesterday that the outspoken broadcaster will host a new global TV show. Piers sensationally quit Good Morning Britain earlier this year after saying he did not believe the Duchess of Sussex’s claims in her controversial Oprah Winfrey interview.

Speaking last night at the Scarsdale Tavern in Kensington, where he met Meghan in 2016, the 56-year-old warned his new job will be the “stuff of nightmares” for the Duchess.

Piers told The Sun: “And I need to say a special thank you Meghan.

“As we sit drinking now, it was five years ago I met her here.

“And I bet she was sitting there celebrating my departure from Good Morning Britain so this move will be the stuff of nightmares for her.

    “So cheers Meghan!”

Piers, who has been a vocal critic of Prince Harry’s wife, is to join News Corp and Fox News Media in a deal that will see him host a TV show airing on weeknights in the UK, US and Australia.

He promised the show will be a “fearless forum for lively debate”.

The former newspaper editor will also pen two weekly columns online for the New York Post and The Sun.

“I’m also delighted to become a columnist for The Sun and the New York Post, two brilliantly successful and popular newspaper brands.

“I’m going home and we’re going to have some fun.”

Piers’ new TV show will air on talkTV when the channel launches in early 2022.

He left GMB in March following a row over his comments about Meghan’s claims in her Oprah interview.

Discussing the interview on the ITV show the following day, Piers said he did not believe Meghan’s claims.

His comments sparked more than 50,000 complaints, the most in Ofcom’s history.

But earlier this month the media watchdog said it found that GMB was not in breach of the broadcasting code over his comments.

The Duchess reportedly complained directly to ITV boss Carolyn McCall but Piers quit GMB after refusing to apologise on air.
