    Top Melbourne radio stations Fox FM and Triple M forced to shut down and send staff home after an employee tested positive for covid


    Two top radio stations in Melbourne have been forced to shut down and send staff home after an employee tested positive for covid. 

    Southern Cross Austereo – the owner of both Triple M and Fox FM – confirmed the news with The Herald Sun on Saturday.

    A spokesperson for SCA said in a statement to the publication: ‘SCA immediately implemented its Covid-Safe Response Plan, including notifying its staff and both the Victorian Department of Health and Work Safe Victoria.

    ‘The SCA Melbourne office is restricted for access only to essential staff related to show broadcasts, under the provisions of the Broadcasting Act.

    ‘Our thoughts, well wishes and full support are with the employee, who is self-isolating under Department of Health guidelines.’

    The radio network is home to some of the Victorian capital’s most listened to radio programs including Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev & Nick breakfast show, and the Carrie and Tommy on the afternoon drive shift.

    On Friday, Marty shared a video on Instagram showing him and his team working in remotely and in their respective homes in isolation. 

    The 50-year-old explained that they are all waiting for the return of their Covid test results, following news of their SCA colleague.

    ‘Don’t worry, we’re staying busy,’ the comedian told fans of the show.

    ‘We’re in isolation, waiting for test results and what not. It’ll be fine, we should be back Monday,’ he added.

    This comes as Victoria reported a record 1,965 new Covid-19 cases and five deaths overnight.

    The state is expected to reach the 70 per cent double jab rate by October 23, three days ahead of schedule.
