Millions of Britons face blackouts as Russia sparks winter of hell fears: 'Not enough gas'

The EU’s “toolbox” comes packed with price caps, subsidies, emergency income support, and temporary deferrals of bill payments.

However, the measures might not be enough to keep Europe powered this winter, according to Jeremy Weir, CEO of the Trafigura Group.

Speaking at the FT Commodities Asia Summit, he said: “We haven’t got enough gas at the moment quite frankly, we’re not storing for the winter period.

“So hence there’s real concern that there’s a potential if we have a cold winter that we could have rolling blackouts in Europe.”
