Moana Hope's wife Isabella Carlstrom reveals why she's growing out her underarm hair

Moana Hope’s wife Isabella Carlstrom has shared a poignant statement revealing why she’s decided to grow out her underarm hair.

On Wednesday, the 28-year-old explained that she didn’t want the couple’s nine-month-old daughter Svea to be ‘tainted by patriarchal societal norms’, as she shared a picture of her arm raised above her head. 

The model, who married former AFLW star Moana in 2019, began her lengthy status by saying: ‘There has been no greater time for reflection in my life than since becoming a mother.

‘It is so important to me that my daughter grows up loving herself and having the freedom to be exactly who she wants to be without being tainted by patriarchal societal norms.

‘I have reflected on every aspect of my life and questioned why it is I do certain things. Something as simple as the hair that grows on my body, to the language I use about myself. It has made me question everything.’

Isabella went on to say that so much of her life is ‘dictated by what society thinks women should be’, before adding that the only person who should be in charge ‘is me’.

‘I never want Svea to feel shame or judgement for being who she is,’ she added. ‘I want her natural self to be her favourite self.

‘I never want her to want to change anything about herself in fear of other people‘s opinions and judgement.

‘She’s only nine months old but I’m still trying to live every day to be the best role model I can for her.’

Love: Moana and Isabella’s romance began when they met at a party back in 2017. The couple married two years later, in August 2019 

Isabella poignantly said that her daughter needs to be able to see a ‘representation of self love and freedom’ to understand what it means, hence the growing of the armpit hair.

She continued: ‘She needs to see feminism modelled in order to demand it from the world, when the world is screaming otherwise at her.’

Isabella was met with hundreds of positive comments from fans, cheering her decision on and praising her for doing it so publicly.

She concluded: ‘It won’t be easy but true self acceptance and love is the way to live a happy, true and fulfilled life. So growing my hair and is my ode to f**king the patriarchy right off and if it bothers you, ask yourself why?’

Moana and Isabella’s romance began when they met at a party back in 2017. The couple married two years later, in August 2019.

The couple welcomed their daughter, Svea, back in November after undergoing IVF.
