NBA YoungBoy is released from jail on $500K bond after seven months in custody following March weapons arrest

NBA YoungBoy was released from jail Tuesday after posting bond of $500,000 in cash.
The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed to TMZ on Tuesday that NBA YoungBoy was released from custody ahead of his trial.
Drew Findling and Andre Belanger, who are lawyers for the 22-year-old rapper, told the outlet that the rapper’s release was conditional to him being monitored and staying in Utah on home confinement.

The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native is accused of felon possession of a firearm, as well as having a firearm on his person that was not registered to him.
In March, the musical artist, whose full name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, was taken into custody in Los Angeles by authorities after he did not cooperate with a traffic stop, leading to a chase by police, TMZ reported at the time.
NBA YoungBoy eventually got out of his vehicle and tried to flee on foot, but authorities used a police dog to find him. He was not bitten by the dog, authorities said.
The initial stop by local and federal authorities was the result of an outstanding federal warrant NBA YoungBoy had. Authorities recovered a firearm in the vehicle at the time.

According to The Advocate, NBA YoungBoy’s legal team told the judge in the case that plans for his home confinement included paying for a security team of ex-soldiers to secure the premises, and putting together a recording studio in the home.
Chief U.S. District Judge Shelly Dick had previously said that the rapper was ‘inclined toward reckless, illegal, dangerous behavior’ in rejecting a bond proposal.
His legal team argued that he bought the residence in Utah due to its proximity to the family of his childhood tutor, who have helped him stay out of trouble when he stays with them.
The rapper has been thriving professionally, with his new album Sincerely, Kentrell debuting in the top spot on the Billboard 200 in late September.
