NHS website crashes as people rush to book their covid booster jabs

On Monday morning, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) said that all adults over the age of 40 should be offered a third jab six months after their second dose. As a result of the announcement, members of the public rushed to the NHS to book their appointment but the website crashed.

Many Britons took to social media to share their struggle at booking a slot following the announcement this morning.

One user @GuidingHelen tweeted NHS Lothian about her struggle to find an appointment in Edinburgh.

She wrote: “Over 60 and I cannot get an flu/booster appointment anywhere in the area at all.

“Tried phoning, website but apparently nothing is available anywhere anytime and of course you have not sent me a blue envelope!”
