Nick Kyrgios has explained why he had to withdraw from his Wimbledon third-round match against Felix Auger Aliassime. The Australian tennis star looked in good form early on as he broke Auger Aliassime’s serve in back-to-back games.

“I haven’t played this level of tennis in a long time and obviously playing someone as good as Felix, I need my main weaping – my serve – to be firing on all cylinders and I just felt my ab,” he said.

“Definitely did something to it towards the end of the first set and that’s just the way it goes.

“Playing out here and having this support is kind of make me have a second wind.

“I think I’m gonna come back and play for a bit longer.

“I did all I could to prepare to get here. I’ve beat a heck of a player in the first round and I played a great second round.

“Just to get out here again and play two sets – I tried to play as long as I could and I’m sorry I couldn’t give you more today.”
