‘Two Aussies born in the same year, but living in different worlds and cities, how did that happen? It was meant to be,’ she said.

The Nine Perfect Strangers star first met Keith, 53, at the G’Day USA Gala in Los Angeles back in January 2005.

Although they married a year later, Nicole told Vanity Fair in 2007 that ‘it wasn’t like the earth shook’ when they met.

She later revealed that it had taken the One Too Many singer four months after their first meeting to call her and ask her out on a date.

In a 2017 interview with Vogue, Nicole revealed that her one regret was that she hadn’t ‘met him much earlier’.

But she admitted the timing of their first encounter had been perfect, and had ensured the longevity of their relationship.

‘I think we were two lonely people,’ Nicole told Vanity Fair.

‘I would probably say that two very lonely people managed to meet at a time when they could open themselves to each other.’

Meanwhile, Keith told People: ‘I feel there was something else at work… bringing us together and then just continuing to watch over us.’
