    Nicole Kidman channelled the high seas when she stepped out for the Deadline Contenders Film event in Los Angeles on Sunday.

    The 54-year-old opted for seafaring chic in a pair of cropped black trousers, which she teamed with a black and white striped top worn tucked in.

    The Oscar-winning actress also donned a captain-style jacket, complete with gold buttons and stripes around the cuffs of the sleeves.

    The statuesque star rounded out her ensemble with a pair of flat black loafers, and her long red hair was styled loose and worn straight.

    Sitting onstage at the panel event, Nicole spoke about her role as Lucille Ball in the upcoming biopic Being the Ricardos.

    She was joined by the film’s writer and director Aaron Sorkin and her co-star Javier Bardem, who portrays Desi Arnaz.

    Other stars in attendance included Nina Arianda, who plays Vivian Vance, and J.K. Simmons, who stars as William Frawley.

    The film depicts the often complicated relationship between real-life Hollywood power couple Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz as they filmed their hit 1950’s sitcom, I Love Lucy.

    It’s set to premiere in cinemas next month, before streaming on Amazon Prime from December 21, and has already generated plenty of awards season buzz.

    Speaking about the film, Nicole admitted she was apprehensive about taking on the role of such a beloved and iconic figure.

    ‘I had massive trepidation about a month prior, and Aaron had to get on the phone and send me emails saying, “You’ve got this,”‘ she said, as reported by Variety.

    She added: ‘It was frightening but incredibly exciting.’
