West End Police Station on Torphichen Place was evacuated today due to the incident. Officers at the police station received a potentially hazardous explosive device. The device was handed in at the police station on Wednesday.

Specialists were later called it to assess the device.

The station was therefore evacuated as a precaution.

The device was described as a piece of “unexploded historical ordinance”.

A member of the public had handed in the device to police officers.

This is a breaking story, more to follow…
