Parental Guidance’s ‘tiger mum’ Debbie admits she is ‘disappointed’ by the show’s editing and says important scenes were left out
‘Tiger parents’ Debbie and Kevin have had their strict parenting style dissected and critiqued on Nine’s Parental Guidance.
And while they have taken on most of the feedback, Debbie has admitted she feels ‘disappointed’ by the program’s editing.
She told Yahoo! she did show love and encouragement to her children but these moments were left out of the final edit during last week’s busking challenge.

The couple’s children, daughter Mimi, 12, and son Leo, 10, played their musical instruments on the street to make $20 in two hours.
She said: ‘I was quite disappointed last week because I felt that the times when we showed [our children] love and affection or encouragement and support [those moments] were all cut out.’
The focus of the episode was instead Debbie criticising their playing ability, their lack of focus, and the mistakes they made.

The mother of two also revealed there was another moment that was cut out.
During the Face Your Fears task she said she actually jumped off the rock face and into the pool twice to show her son how it was done.
‘I jumped into the water twice before Leo did at the expense of washing off all my makeup!’ she said.
While she admitted to feeling anxious about her family’s portrayal, Debbie has been happy with the support she’s received from the other parents on the show.

‘We have a chat group and we catch up every week since the show aired. They all say that they know what kind of people we are and not to worry too much because they believe the rest of Australia will see it eventually,’ she said.
Debbie previously said of being a ‘tiger parent’: ‘Tiger parenting means to be very strict. I always tell my children, I just want to see that you are trying your best.’
