Perrie Edwards’ mother thought the singer had wet herself when her waters broke three weeks early ahead of giving birth to her son Axel.

The Little Mix star, 28, welcomed her little one on August 21 with Liverpool FC player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

And Perrie told during a candid Instagram Q&A on Thursday that her mother Deborah, who had come to stay, mistook her daughter’s waters breaking for the star having an accident.

Perrie explained that her mother thought she couldn’t control her bladder due to being heavily pregnant, but the star insisted that something was ‘seriously happening’.

However, despite the dramatic moment, the star sweetly said that it was the most ‘exciting’ and ‘amazing’ experience of her life when she welcomed her son.

Perrie told fans that her mother had come to stay three weeks early and that she had arrived on a Wednesday, with her waters breaking on Friday night while she was fast asleep in bed.

The blonde beauty then ran into her mother’s room insisting that her waters had broke but she dismissed it as her pregnancy bladder and explained she had probably wet herself.

Recalling the story, Perrie said: ‘No, mum, something is seriously happening, I think my waters have broke,’ with her mother telling her to go back to bed.

Her partner Alex was away staying at a hotel that night, with Perrie and her mother reluctant to call him to come over in case it was just a toilet mishap.

Perrie added of motherhood: ‘Most amazing experience of my life, literally can’t explain how amazing it was. He [baby Axel] is just the best.’

She said of her son arriving three weeks early: ‘I’m not mad at three bonus weeks, as we keep saying.’

Perrie revealed Axel’s name two weeks after his birth.

The singer shared the snaps of her adorable newborn in a blue knitted hat sleeping in a basket, wrapped up in a knitted white blanket.

She wrote alongside the post: ‘2 weeks of loving you. I’ve never felt love like this before! @Axel Oxlade-Chamberlain.’

She shared a series of adorable black and white snaps of the little one’s hands and feet in August to announce the birth of her child. She wrote online: ‘Welcome to the world baby 21/08/21 ♥️.’

Alex shared the same sweet images on his own social media page, alongside a caption which read: ‘Welcome to the world little one’.

This came after Perrie’s bandmate Jade Thirlwall recently detailed just how Perrie and Leigh-Anne Pinnock are coping at being first-time mums.

Leigh-Anne, 29, and fiancé Andre Gray became proud parents to twins on August 16.

With two of the trio now on maternity leave, Jade, 28, joked the pair ‘don’t know sleep exists’.

In an interview with FM104’s The Strawberry Alarm Clock, the singer said: ‘They have been saying that they just don’t know sleep any more, they don’t know sleep exists now – it’s just gone.

‘I’ve only just decided what I’m going to get them because it took me so long to think of something.

‘You know what it’s like – everyone gets them their clothes and all the same stuff, I’m sure they’ve got everything they could possibly need.’

Jade revealed that she received some sweet advice from pop hitmaker Ed Sheeran: ‘The last time I spoke to Ed Sheeran, it was after the Euros and we went for a drink afterwards.

‘He was telling me that when he had his baby, everyone always forgets about the mum and that they might need something too.’

‘I was like, “that’s really good advice”. I think I’m going to get the girls something like an in-house spa day so they get a treat.’

Leigh-Anne and footballer boyfriend Andre Gray, 30, welcomed twins on August 16.

In an Instagram post Leigh-Anne said: ‘We asked for a miracle, we were given two… Our Cubbies are here.’ She has yet to announce the names of her twins.
