But by Monday, Phoebe Burgess appeared to make a statement at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week by wearing the controversial pants on the red carpet.
Defying the haters, the former WAG, 32, slipped a brown leather trench coat over the garment.

The ex of former NRL star Sam Burgess added a pop of colour to the ensemble with bright green mesh Bottega Veneta shoes and a matching handbag.
The mother-of-two wore her wavy, platinum blonde tresses loose and cascading for the high-profile outing.
As well as her purse, Phoebe carried a bottle of water, her phone and a pair of tortoiseshell framed geometric shades which she slipped on for one of her photos.

The outing came after Phoebe lost her cool on Sunday.
The blonde was left fuming after being criticised by trolls for wearing a pair of ‘ugly’ low-crotch leather trousers worth $1,795 in a recent Instagram post.
The aspiring influencer uploaded a screenshot of the unkind comments to her Instagram Stories.

‘So I was just living my life when I decided to pop back onto IG this evening… and found a woman blowing up over… my drop-crotch leather pants… safe to say she escalated and now despises everything about me, over pants…,’ Phoebe began.
‘I was accused of deleting comments, spending too much money on my wardrobe, wearing too many items of clothing at once (I’m totally not sure about that one), and it went on a little more,’ she continued.

Phoebe continued her rant in a subsequent post, uploading a screenshot of a comment she’d written in response to the trolls along with an essay about the importance of respect.
‘I don’t have to compromise myself or my integrity – I do not have to accept malicious, bitter, vindictive and nasty behaviour in my own space,’ she wrote in part.
She continued: ‘I absolutely definitely do NOT and will NEVER accept women attacking other women. That’s a first class ticket for you to f**k right off.’
