Police cordon off woodland after human remains discovered

    Several officers continue to probe the grim discovery, made near Whittock Square in the Stockwood area of Bristol yesterday morning. The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

    There is a large police cordon in place, reports Bristol Live.

    Police dogs are aiding the operation, believed to centre on two sites of interest – one near Whittock Square and one further into the wood.

    A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: “Police were called at around 9.50am yesterday (Sunday 14 November) to woodland near Whittock Square, Stockwood following the discovery of human remains.

    “A cordon is in place while a forensic investigation is carried out at the scene.

    “The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

    “Work to establish the identity of the deceased is likely to take some time.”
