Prince Andrew's personal gift to Queen leaves royal fans confused 'She didn't want one'

Prince Andrew has left royal watchers bewildered over a gift he gave to his mother. The Royally Obsessed podcast hosts expressed confusion after they uncovered the Queen’s own words on the matter. Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie explained the situation to their listeners.

Ms Fiorito said: “My low this week is the fact that we got word that the Queen’s dog, Fergus, passed away.

“This was a dorgi that had been given to her when Prince Philip was in the hospital in February-March.

“Prince Andrew gifted her these dogs.

“Even though she said that she didn’t want new dogs in her older years.”

She continued: “I don’t know what that’s about.

“Supposedly they brought her a lot of comfort – she was often seen out walking them around Windsor.

“So she’s left with two dogs now – Muick, named after Loch Muick at Balmoral, and Candy.”

Ms Bowie added: “It’s so sad to hear about a puppy dying.”

It was reported in 2015 that the monarch had stopped breeding corgis because she did not want to leave any behind after she died.

The Queen has owned more than 30 dogs of the breed during her reign.

Her last remaining one, Willow, died in 2018 after suffering from cancer.

It marked the first time the monarch had not owned a corgi since the end of the Second World War.

The two remaining ones, Muick and Candy, are both cross-breeds between a dachshund and a corgi.
