The Duke, 37, and Duchess, 40, of Sussex embarked on their first joint appearance as they toured New York in order to participate in the Global Citizen Live promoting Covid vaccines last weekend. However, a source has laid bare the local reaction to the royal couple’s visit.

“There were a lot of raised eyebrows in New York, and in Hollywood, too,” the insider told Heat magazine.

“A lot of people think that Meghan and Harry are trying to position themselves above most of their A-list peers.

“They seem to want to bask in their old royal status and enjoy all the attention and benefits that go with that, which is a turn-off for a lot of people.”

The revelation comes as new reports show Harry’s popularity in the UK has drastically dropped.

“It’s not just the fact of his ungainly exit from royal life, although that has been a wounding process and continues to be one.”

The royal couple had many royal engagements lined up during their visit including a visit to the One World Observatory and paying their respects at the 9/11 memorial.

While in the city, the royal couple also visited an elementary school in Harlem to promote literacy in children.

There, Meghan read the children her children’s book, The Bench.

The main purpose of the visit was to attend the Global Live Citizen event on Saturday to help promote vaccines in the country.
