The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have interrupted their week-long holiday to highlight a new initiative. The couple shared a tweet from Young Minds UK on Thursday, writing: “Bayo is a brilliant new initiative from The Ubele Initiative and Heads Together partners! @MindCharity, @YoungMindsUK and @bestbeginnings are bringing their mental health resources, communities and services for the Black community together in one place.” Bayo is an online space to find collectives, organisations and services from across the UK – run by and for the Black community – to support mental health and wellbeing.
It was funded by the National Emergencies Trust and is run by The Ubele Initiative.
The holiday interruption was for a worthy cause, but William and Kate changing their plans hasn’t always gone down well.
Back in 2006, before they were married, Prince William is said to have called his then-girlfriend to tell her he would instead be spending time with his own family.
In her 2011 book, The Making of a Royal Romance, royal expert Katie Nicholl said William had promised Kate he would join her family to celebrate Hogmanay.
Katie said: “At the last minute William had a change of heart and decided to stay with his own family instead.”
William is said to have “informed a tearful Kate during a late-night conversation on Boxing Day”.
The royal expert said the decision seemed like “no big deal”, but Kate found the ordeal as “a sign of something more sinister to come”.
Ms Nicholl added: “She [Kate] had good reason to be concerned.
“William had been having second thoughts and sat down with his father and his grandmother to have a frank discussion about his future with Kate. Both advised him not to hurry into anything.”
The Cambridges split briefly in 2007 as a result of the row, according to reports.
Reports from April 2007 also claim that William broke up with Kate via a phone call that she received while at work.
The future duchess, then 25, excused herself from a meeting and went into a room to be out of earshot of other buyers, Robert Lacey claims in his book Battle of Brothers.

“But that was just, we were both very young, it was at university, we were sort of both finding ourselves as such and being different characters and stuff.
“It was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up, and so it was just sort of a bit of space and a bit of things like that and it worked out for the better.”
Kate added: “And I think I at the time wasn’t very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person.
“You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn’t realised, or I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you are younger and I really valued that time for me as well although I didn’t think it at the time. Looking back on it.”
