Princess Anne married her first husband, Mark Phillips, in 1973 and they share two children together – Zara and Mark. However, the royal wedding thoughtfully coincided with Prince Charles’ 25th birthday.

The heir to the throne also greeted crowds on the balcony with his sister after the ceremony.

The ceremony attracted around 500 million TV viewers from around the world, who saw Anne accompanied down the aisle by her late father, the Duke of Edinburgh.

On her head, the Queen’s daughter wore a stunning headpiece, known as the Queen Mary’s Russian Fringe tiara.

The Queen also wore the tiara when she married Prince Philip in 1947, as did Princess Beatrice at her wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020.

Just after her engagement, she was asked: “Do you think the marriage can withstand the enormous pressures of public duty and publicity that you have to endure?”

To which, the Captain replied: “I think we’ve withstood a great deal already this year.”

Anne then quipped: “Can? It’s got to, hasn’t it?”

When Princess Anne and Mark became engaged, the royal displayed her unique engagement ring.

“The cabochon gem is framed by a cluster of three small diamonds either side totalling approx 0.2 carats, set in yellow gold.”

Princess Anne and Mark separated in 1989 and the royal has naturally not worn the ring since.

The Princess Royal then went to marry naval officer Commander Timothy Laurence in December 1992 in Scotland.
