Tennis star Rafael Nadal goes shirtless as he enjoys downtime on his lavish yacht in Ibiza amid tennis break

He’s used to working up a sweat on the tennis court.

But Rafael Nadal, 35, was hot and bothered for a very different reason as he sunned himself on his yacht in Ibiza on Friday.

The Spanish sportsman is holidaying on the island with friends and he displayed some very noticeable tan lines as he relaxed in a pair of pink and white swimming shorts on the boat.

Rafael could be seen holding a hose out in front of him as he sprayed water into a container on the deck.

Rafael’s thick brown hair took on a messy appearance as he took the day to lounge about and enjoy some rest and relaxation.

Earlier this month Rafael announced he would not be taking part in Wimbledon or the Tokyo Olympics this year.

The sports star said he made the decision to rest his body so he could continue playing his much-loved game to the best of his ability in the future.

He wrote on Instagram: ‘I have decided not to participate in the next edition of Wimbledon that will be held from June 28 to July 11. Nor will I play the Olympic Games finally scheduled for July 24-30.

‘It is a decision that is never easy to make and after listening to my body and talking to my team, I understand that it is the right decision in order to extend my sports career and continue doing what makes me happy; compete at the highest level and continue to fight for professional and personal challenges at the highest level in a competitive way.

He added that he would not have enough time to recover from competing in The French Open between 30 May and 13 June before Wimbledon, which runs from 28 June to 11 July, with the two competitions being only two weeks apart this year.

He would then have to travel to Japan for the Toyko Olympics which are taking place between 23 July and 8 August.

Rafael concluded: ‘I want to send a special greeting to all my fans around the world, to those in the UK and in Japan.

‘The Olympic Games have meant a lot in my career and have always been a priority as an athlete, where I found the environment that every athlete wants to feel at least once in their career.

‘Personally, I was lucky enough to experience them intensely on three occasions and also to be the standard-bearer of my country.’
