    Celebrity trainer Ross Edgley reveals he’s impressed that Chris Hemsworth is an avid surfer despite his hulking size – as he discloses the 190cm Thor star’s triple-digit weight


    British adventurer Ross Edgley put Chris Hemsworth to the ultimate physical test in the new National Geographic series, Limitless.

    The 35-year-old told The Daily Telegraph on Friday the actor, 37, who is an avid surfer, is unusually gifted at all sorts of sports despite is hulking, muscular form. 

    The trainer complimented the Marvel star, who is 190cm tall, on his physicality, saying: ‘You won’t find guys at 105kg surfing and sprinting like he does.’

    Ross says Chris was a ‘sports science guinea pig’ testing out extreme physical activities for the upcoming program.

    ‘Essentially Chris is almost this kind of sports science guinea pig where we are looking at optimising human health, looking at longevity. And everything from strength to resilience and how these things dwindle with age and how we can improve them,’ he said.

    A recent video shared by Chris shows him being put through his paces in occlusion training, or blood flow restriction training.

    Ross, who is an ultra-marathon sea swimmer, said the six-part series will open explore different ways people can live better for longer.

    He spoke highly of the Thor star’s willingness to put himself and his ‘athleticism’ to the test. 

    ‘I always say make your body an instrument, not an ornament and as great as Chris looks, a lot of people, through this project, are going to see a new form of athleticism that you don’t really see with a lot of big actors,’ he said.  

    Limitless will see Hemsworth take part in various challenges exploring different ways to extend the human lifespan.

    Among the six supposedly life-extending techniques he will test are: regenerating damage, maximising strength, building resilience, shocking the body, supercharging memory and confronting mortality.

    Hemsworth said in a statement: ‘Basically, I was somehow convinced to volunteer myself as a human guinea pig and endure a series of mental and physical challenges across the globe, all for the sake of science.’

    ‘We’re hoping to shed some light on new ideas and emerging science with the focus on extending a healthy lifespan.’
