Royal Family LIVE: Kate and Prince William weigh up major decision with Prince Louis

Kate and Prince William will have had a big decision to make over whether to send their youngest child back to nursery due to Covid. An alternative would have been to homeschool three-year-old Louis.

Louis attends The Willcocks Nursery School in Kensington, which reopens today after the summer holidays.

Kate has a keen interest in early childhood development so she is likely to have had that in mind when deciding whether to send her youngest son back to nursery.

The Duchess was busy last year homeschooling her three children during the coronavirus lockdown.

Meanwhile, Prince George and Charlotte are also due back at school tomorrow.

George, seven, and Charlotte, five, both attend Thomas’s Battersea.

The Cambridges are likely to have returned to their Kensington Palace residence for the new term.

The family split their time between London and their Anmer Hall residence in Norfolk, where they are believed to spend weekends and holidays.

William, Kate and their three children are also understood to have visited the Queen at Balmoral during the summer.

Kate and Prince William’s successful marriage is down to their contrasting backgrounds, according to a former royal staffer.

Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, a former Palace courtier, told People magazine: “They are bringing to the party different means of achieving the whole.

7.30am update: Charlotte is no Princess at school but just one of the ordinary kids in class

Princess Charlotte and Prince George may boast a Royal heritage, but at school they are just one of the kids.

Charlotte and her older brother both attend Thomas’s Battersea in south London.

The Princess returns to class as a Year 2 pupil, while George is starting Year 4.

In an attempt to ensure that their children have as normal an upbringing as possible, William and Kate have insisted Charlotte and George are not called by their royal titles at school.

Instead both children use their parent’s title as their surname, as they bid to blend in with the crowd.
