The 77-year-old took aim at his daughter whilst speaking to GB News’ Dan Wootton, commenting: “Her lies are so obvious, I don’t know why she says them.” Mr Markle is estranged from Meghan and Harry, and has yet to meet either Archie or Lilibet, his grandchildren.

During the interview he also hit out at the Sussexes for “attacking” the Queen.

He said: “Meghan and Harry are attacking the world. Attacking his 95-year-old grandmother is unforgivable.”

The interview triggered a furious response online, with social media users hitting out at Mr Markle.

Nazir Afzal OBE, a former chief prosecutor, accused him of seeking to “blackmail” Meghan.

Another Twitter user wrote: “Thomas Markle does not love his daughter… he loves the limelight.”

Another questioned: “Remind me why Thomas Markle is still getting airtime?”

A fourth added: “How toxic is Thomas Markle? Grim.”
