Our poll which ran on Thursday, June 17 from 8am to 8pm asked readers whether Meghan should attend the unveiling of Diana statue with Harry? It comes after an initial report from US gossip site Radar Online claimed the Meghan would be coming over to Britain to support Harry next month.

The publication also claimed she was hoping to bring the couple’s two-year-old son Archie.

However other sources later emerged saying the Duchess of Sussex, who recently gave birth to daughter Lilibet Diana, would not be attending.

Our poll found 12,005 people (94.6 percent of respondents) replied No and hoped Prince Harry would come alone.

Meanwhile, 599 of 12,679 respondents (4.72 percent) said Yes and appeared to express a preference that Meghan should attend the ceremony.

Only 75 people (0.59 percent) responded that they were not sure.

Royal fans who responded to our poll claimed the Duchess of Sussex was not welcome in the UK.

One respondent to the poll said: “A thousand times no. Her presence is not wanted.”

A second added: “Never in a million years” whilst a third respondent urged the Duchess to “stay away.”

Mr Fitzwilliams added: “Diana would have wished her sons to be on the same road rather than different paths.”

“I hope a healing process will begin.”

He added of the wider plans: “Statues seem to belong to a previous era but they have made a truly remarkable comeback.

“It’s become impressionable to commemorate figures with a statue, people can easily identify that person.

“The idea that it should be in the Sunken Garden is great, there’s no doubt it is in a part of the Palace that Diana loved.”
