Strictly Come Dancing is celebrating a special milestone for the BBC and the show features an epic group number. As the contestants pay tribute to some of the broadcaster’s biggest flagship shows, they hope to win the hearts of the judging panel. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about who is at the top and bottom of the leaderboard.
Who is at the top of the Strictly leaderboard?
Ellie Simmonds and Nikita Kuzmin –
Paralympian Ellie and her partner Nikita will be dancing the Paso Doble to Montagues and Capulets, as heard on The Apprentice.
Ellie has performed consistently well so far, with the judges recognising her drive and determination.
Earlier this week, Nikita warned his dance partner on It Takes Two that he did not want to see her looking tense.
He said: “We’ve been talking a lot about tense and intense, I don’t want tense.
“I would love intensity and there is a small difference, tense is just tensing, intense is a certain feeling, a certain body position.”
Ellie Taylor and Johannes Radebe –
Comedian Ellie and her partner Johannes are taking on the Tango to the Casualty theme tune, something Ellie was very excited about.
She said she used to dance around to the iconic music with her family back in the day, and was looking forward to taking to the dancefloor again.
Johannes took to his Instagram to thank the couple’s fans for keeping them out of the bottom two so far.
He said: “I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all the support that you have shown Ellie and I, as this means I get to dance with this beautiful lady for another week!”
Fleur East and Vito Coppola –
Singer Fleur and her partner Vito have become fan favourites following their sizzling Argentine Tango.
This week they are tackling a very different dance, the Jive, to Abba’s Waterloo.
The upbeat dance pays homage to Eurovision and Fleur took to Instagram to give fans some insight into their training sessions.
She said: “Getting our energy ready for the Jive this weekend. Eurovision here we come!!”

Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez –
Presenter Helen and her partner Gorka have been safe in the middle of the leaderboard so far.
This week they are dancing the Charleston to the Blue Peter theme tune, a song close to Helen’s heart.
Usually, she does not like being told what is coming up as her next dance, but she was so excited when she found out she would be paying tribute to the show she once worked on.
Jayde Adams and Karen Hauer –
Comedian Jayde and her professional partner Karen have won the hearts of the judges and the public so far.
Following their emotional performance from last week, Jayde will be dancing a Charleston in homage to Victoria Wood and BBC Comedy.
Jayde was thrilled to be paying tribute to one of her icons in the industry.
Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima –
Actress and presenter Kym was saved by the judges after she landed in the dance-off and she was grateful to still be in the competition.
Ready to bounce back, she is dancing the Quickstep to Ballroom Blitz from Come Dancing.
In one of her latest videos on Instagram, she said she had had “a great week” learning the fast-paced dance.
She said: “We have got Come Dancing which we are absolutely delighted with as it was such an iconic show. We are thrilled.
“Quickstep is quick, as it turns out, I should have guessed really.”
Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu –
Molly is still one of the fan-favourites this year and she has been described as a ray of sunshine.
The youngest star in the competition will be joining Carlos for their Couple’s Choice dance this week.
They will be dancing to the Grange Hill theme tune and there is lots of fun to be had.
Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal –
Cameraman Hamza was at the top of the leaderboard with a near-perfect score last week.
Having executed some impressive lifts, he wowed the judges and has become the bookies’ favourite to win.
This week he is keeping things lively with the Quickstep, to On Top Of The World.
In a fitting tribute for Hamza, he will be paying homage to BBC Nature Programming.
James Bye and Amy Dowden –
Actor James is starting to find his feet in the competition and he showed signs of progress last week.
Hoping to continue on the same streak, he is dancing the Foxtrot to the iconic EastEnders theme tune.
As he stars in the soap, the song is very close to his heart and his aim is to do the track justice.

This week they are taking on something more upbeat as they dance the Cha Cha to the Grandstand theme tune.
Tony said the song was “iconic” and he was looking forward to celebrating BBC Sport.
Tyler West and Dianne Buswell –
Radio DJ Tyler is one of the favourites to lift the Glitterball Trophy and he had another week of success with his Couple’s Choice.
This week he will be dancing the Tango to the Doctor Who theme song, and the pressure is on.
He hasn’t landed in the dance-off yet, so the odds are in his favour.
Will Mellor and Nancy Xu –
Actor Will is hoping to get back on track this weekend after suffering from a virus last weekend.
He was disappointed with his low scores but said he accepted the critiques and was ready to come out fighting again.
This week he is dancing the Viennese Waltz to the Line of Duty titles.
