Sunrise hosts are outraged as a viewer reveals the VERY awkward reason she was ‘slow to answer the phone’ after winning the $70,000 Cash Cow jackpot
A Sunrise competition winner has revealed she ‘fell asleep’ during the breakfast show and almost missed out on winning the $70,000 Cash Cow jackpot.
Merrylands West resident Norma Douaihy picked up the phone in the nick of time on Wednesday after dozing off in front of her television.
The mother of four told co-hosts Natalie Barr and David ‘Kochie’ Koch: ‘I actually fell asleep on the lounge.’

If she’d missed the all-important phone call, she would have lost the prize money.
‘You fell asleep watching us!?’ Kochie asked, sounding outraged.
‘I did. I dozed off for a second!’ Norma replied.

The genuinely funny moment saw Natalie burst into laughter and say: ‘Thanks. We’re not going to be putting this into the promo!’
Sports reporter Mark Beretta chimed in: ‘Sunrise: putting viewers to sleep!’
Norma will be using the money to ‘pay off her debts’ but will hopefully have enough left over to treat her family.

It comes after the breakfast TV ratings war took a turn earlier this month with the Today show beating Sunrise – leaving Seven bosses blindsided.
Nine’s Today show had claimed victory on September 15 after pulling in 248,000 metro viewers, while Sunrise lagged behind with 237,000.
It was the program’s first ratings victory over Sunrise since Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon teamed up as co-anchors early last year.
