Survivor is coming back for its most intense season ever.
CBS just revealed the 18 new castaways set for season 41, which is set to premiere September 22nd.
This time the series will be more high-pressure than ever, condensing Survivor’s usual 39-day run into a ‘much more dangerous 26-day game,’ according to host Jeff Probst.
Back in action: Survivor announced this season’s 18 new castaways and its new 26-day game plan on Monday
‘Survivor 41 is birthing a new era, starting with a much more dangerous 26-day game,’ the CBS personality, 59, told Us Weekly of season 41, which was originally set to shoot in spring of 2020 before the emergence of the pandemic.
‘That means it is a very fast pace. It does force the players to make bigger decisions. So there will be new advantages and there will be some controversial twists.’
CBS also shared some details via a press release, explaining how this season ‘supplies are minimal, reward challenges are scarce and players find themselves faced with advantages that could significantly help their game or, just as easily, extinguish their torch.’
The new twists will include a new ‘Game within the Game’, which Probst teased as ‘an interactive experience for junior, future Survivor players’ who will ‘have to spot and solve rebus puzzles hidden within each episode.’
Probst said he was ready for a bit of backlash, but said that fans would grow to love the twist.
‘There’s a history on Survivor,’ he explained.

‘Every twist we’ve ever done people have hated in the beginning, going to back to season 3 when we did the first tribe swap. Now if tribes don’t get a switch, they’re upset. It was the same with the idol, it’s the same with everything.’
Probst is pumped for the new era, telling Us Weekly: ‘I’m trying to remind players to just keep moving an beat the game. It is fast.
‘You’ve got to earn everything. And even then, there’s no guarantees that you’ll keep it. That’s Survivor right now, so buckle up.’
