The Duchess of Cambridge visited the Imperial War Museum in London on Wednesday. Shortly afterwards, Meghan Markle attended a New York gala honouring veterans with Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex dazzled in red for her appearance at the 2021 Salute to Freedom gala.

During Kate’s visit to the museum, she opened two new galleries charting the story of the Holocaust and the Second World War and also met two Holocaust survivors she had previously photographed.

Kate’s royal engagement prompted a flurry of compliments from fans on Twitter.

One Twitter user with the handle @BillyDouglass7 commented: “Now that’s a real Duchess and future Queen right there!”

Another, @ElenaMe47024334, wrote: “The amazing Duchess of Cambridge.”

A third user, @NaomiSky_15, said: “Well done. Shine a light on worthy causes and people. Not yourself.”

Another, @monamm2175, commented: “Beautiful Catherine. Always class act.”

One more with the handle @Fionaglenane tweeted: “She is an asset to the UK.”

And Kate also saw the exhibition Generations: Portraits Of Holocaust Survivors, which includes two photographic portraits she took last year to mark 75 years since the end of the Holocaust.

The Duchess met once again with Steven Frank and Yvonne Bernstein, who she photographed alongside their granddaughters for the exhibition.

As she greeted Mr Frank and his granddaughters, he swept her into a hug and she thanked him for “trusting” her to take his photo.

The royal said: “I loved the items you chose and the colours. Thank you for your time. You were good sitters. Seeing this really brings back such special memories.

“We need to tell your stories.

“That is what is so powerful about this project, the generational nature of it and the handover of stories.”

Kate was asked by Mrs Bernstein if she got chance to see much of her children as a young, working mother, to which she replied: “All the time. They’re my priority.”

Karen Pollock CBE, chief executive of Holocaust Educational Trust, said: “The new Holocaust galleries at the Imperial War Museum play a leading role in this country, teaching future generations about the horrors of Europe’s past.

“The Duchess of Cambridge’s presence demonstrates yet again the importance of educating about the Holocaust and her clear personal dedication to our cause. We could not be more grateful.”
