The Block’s Jess Eva reveals why she’s NEVER planning to marry her fiancé Norm – despite the pair being engaged for over seven years

She’s been with her partner Norm Hogan for over a decade and engaged to him for  seven years.

But on Thursday, The Block star Jess Eva revealed she has no intention of marrying her fiancé during a discussion on Jana Hocking’s Kinda Sorta Dating podcast.

The 36-year-old – who shares Fred, six, and Matilda, four, with Norm – said she was against the idea of spending thousands on a wedding when she could invest in something for their children.

‘I find traditional a bit outdated, and it’s just what fits your jam. For us, we got engaged and I’ve got no intention of getting married,’ she said.

‘The only way I would get married is if it was a BYOB (bring your own booze), because I’ve been to too many weddings where I’ve drunk the crap wine and I’ve felt bad about it – because it still costs the bride and groom thousands of dollars.’

She continued: ‘I don’t need to [get married]. I’d do it for the party, but I don’t need to. With this economy, you can put the money into something for your kids.’

While she may be against the idea of marriage for the time being, she says Norm is ‘desperate’ to tie the knot.

Jess added that he always asks her if she would ‘just want to experience it’, to which she replies: ‘I love you, I’ve got no chance of breaking up with you – and if I did, we’ve been together more than six months so we’re splitting our super 50/50 as it is.’

She concluded that while she’s not planning on walking down the aisle anytime soon, she’s happy for anyone else who decides to.

‘If that’s what you like, go ahead,’ she added, before advising: ‘If you are waiting on a proposal, actually doesn’t define anything emotionally with you.’

Speaking about her first ever meeting with Norm, the blushing radio host recalled: ‘We’ve been together nearly ten years, ever since an illusive night when I got kicked out of a nightclub and a pizza restaurant.

‘His bald head was glistening in the moonlight. I said, “Can I have a bit of your pizza?” he said, “Can I have your number?”

I said “I’ll do whatever you want mate, just give us a bite.” It was love since then’.
