    And The Mullet was finally unmasked in the final episode of the Channel 10 singing show on Tuesday night.

    The man behind the mask was none other than singer, musician and actor Axle Whitehead.

    The 40-year-old Home and Away alum ultimately placed third on the show behind The Dolly and The Vampire.

    Upon removing his mask, Axle revealed he had actually styled his own hair into a mullet for the big reveal.

    Upon showing off his face to the stunned judges, the TV host thanked the panel for allowing him to embrace his ‘inner bogan’ for the role.

    Jackie ‘O’ Henderson was the only judge to correctly pick Axle as the man behind the mask.

    Whitehead was originally a contestant on Australian Idol’s first season in 2003.

    He went on to host Video Hits and The World’s Strictest Parents, before turning to acting with roles in The Secret Life of Us and Home and Away.

    Axle’s first single I Don’t Do Surprises debuted at number 8 on the ARIA charts in 2008.

    His debut album Losing Sleep peaked at number 68 on the Australian album charts.

    Whitehead also served as a presenter on the 2017 game show The Wall.
