'This is not the time!' Boris lashes out at Sturgeon's IndyRef2 plot after speech to SNP

    Ms Sturgeon told the SNP’s national conference this morning “democracy must – and will – prevail”, claiming she had a clear mandate for a new independence vote.

    She said she hopes to adopt an approach of “co-operation not confrontation” with Westminster to hold a referendum by the end of 2023.

    Downing Street has rejected Ms Sturgeon’s demands saying the pandemic “is our priority”.

    The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said “this is not the time” for a referendum.
