Thomas Tuchel must keep the faith and avoid falling into Chelsea transfer trap

James was highly-regarded at Chelsea long before his impressive loan spell in the Championship with Wigan a few years ago, which helped catapult him into Lampard’s team the following year.

Tuchel has rotated his options in defence a number of times this year, with James a casualty of that approach at times.

But his form right now is hard to ignore. He’s already ensured this campaign will be his highest-scoring season ever after netting an incredible four goals in just 11 games.

And after racking up another three assists, no player in the Chelsea squad can match or better James’ goal involvement tally of seven so far this season.

Given James’ incredible development this term, Tuchel really should think twice before mounting a bid to lure Dest to London.

With club captain Cesar Azpilicueta now in the twilight years of his career, there is scope for an addition to be made in that right wing-back area.
